Gustave De Bruyn (1838-1916) was born in Leuven. He founded Faiencerie de Fives in Lille. Many well-known French and European ceramists designed for Fives.
Majolica is a type of pottery in which an earthenware clay body (usually a red earthenware) is covered with an opaque white glaze, then painted with stains or glazes and fired.
Due to age enamel at the bottom is cracked, when in use it is recommmended to put the vase on a protective plate.
